BEMNext

BEMNext stands for the next generation of BEM or Built Environment Modelling. Built Environment Modelling deals with all forms of computation, modelling, analysis, simulation, optimisation, etc. of the built environment in its broadest form during the entire lifecycle.

Built Environment Modelling comprises themes in the built environment, such as:

  • Building Information Modelling (BIM): 3D, object-oriented modelling, clash technology, 4D scheduling, 5D quantity take-off and cost estimation, virtual construction;
  • Asset management
  • Advanced geometry and design systems: 3D NURBS modelling, parametric and associative design, constraint solving;
  • Multi-disciplinary analysis and simulation: Finite Element Analysis (FEA/FEM), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD);
  • Optimisation: Genetic Algorithms, Simulated Annealling, Evolutionary Structural Optimisation (ESO), Multi-Disciplinary Optimisation (MDO);
  • Infrastructure Modelling
  • City Modelling
  • Bridge Information Modelling (BrIM)
  • Geographic and spatial information systems (GIS)
  • High-performance Compution (HPC)
  • Sustainability
  • Integral design

On the one hand this is a huge field to cover, on the other hand we are specifically interested in the niches where we can add value by the thing we are good at: custom software development for design and engineering solutions.

Please take a look at our research themes or projects for a more detailed overview of our efforts.

We are interested in…

Since we are interested in the next generation of built environment modelling, we are exploring many other themes and technologies.
