At the moment the BEMNext Laboratory is mainly researching which niches exist where we can contribute with our expertise and skills. We are looking at a number of research topics on which we will further dive into in the future.
Our research topics are:
- Built Environment Modelling (BEM)
We would like to come to integrated systems for the complete lifecycle of objects in the built environment. Key is for us that they will serve the user’s processes in the best way possible. - Building Information Modelling (BIM)
We are committed to make the vision of Building Information Modelling work in practice: a integrated and multi-disciplinary digital process where all information is coordinated and where we can benefit from all available information during the lifecycle. - BIM++: Beyond BIM
But we also see that BIM is not nearly everything. BIM is based on object-oriented technology, which just add structure to data to come to information. But what about logic, knowledge, experience, etc.? Under this theme we attempt to build the next generation of infrastructure and systems. - Asset management
Objects in the built environment do not only need information during the design, engineering and construction process. Asset management is an important theme where new technology can be developed to benefit from the information currently handled in the process. - Integral design
No object in the built environment is designed, engineered, constructed or maintained by a single discipline. Therefore, multi-disciplinarity and integral design is key. - Sustainability
We would like to contribute by taking our responsibility towards the future of our planet by researching new technologies which help to use less, use in a more efficient way and waste and pollute less.
